Helping the body behind open property data communicate like the modern organisation it is

The Open Property Data Association (OPDA) is the UK's independent, not-for-profit industry body for smart property data. Founded in 2023, it brings together banks, building societies, estate agents, conveyancers and proptech innovators, with members including Lloyds, HSBC UK, Nationwide and Santander.

Its goal is to do for property what open banking did for finance: create shared data, technology and trust standards so that buying and selling a home becomes faster, cheaper and less stressful for everyone.

Challenge

OPDA was driving change across a whole industry, but its own communications hadn't caught up. Newsletters went out as PDF attachments, with every member CC'd on the same email. There was no social strategy, the website was hard to keep current, enquiries arrived through forms that nobody was routing or tagging, and there was no analytics in place to show what was working.

The association needed general marketing and digital support from a partner who understood its members and could help it communicate with the same clarity it was asking of the property market.

Solution

We started by fixing the basics, then helped OPDA build a voice to match its ambitions.

  • Email marketing strategy: replacing PDF attachments and CC lists with proper newsletters, bi-weekly member content, a welcome journey for new contacts and campaigns such as the membership drive and AGM feedback
  • Social media strategy to grow its presence with members, partners and policymakers
  • Website editing and updates to keep content, news and resources current, with Google Analytics set up for the first time
  • Automation: forms connected to email tagging rules, so every enquiry reaches the right place
  • The Future of Homebuying 2026: copy-editing and designing OPDA's annual research report, built on a survey of 5,001 homebuyers and sellers and featuring forewords from across the industry and government. Its launch drove the website's busiest month on record

Beyond the day-to-day, we presented at OPDA's AGM and worked with key stakeholders to help shape the direction of the organisation: acting, in our own small way, as agents of change for the people changing the property market.
